What you'll be doing

Job Description – Bakery Shop Assistant

• Provide friendly and professional customer service at all times

• Prepare and serve a range of barista-style coffees and hot beverages

• Operate coffee machine and maintain cleanliness of coffee station

• Ice buns, pastries, and other bakery items with attention to quality and presentation

• Prepare fresh salad rolls and sandwiches to order, ensuring food safety standards

• Handle customer transactions using the point-of-sale system accurately

• Restock display cabinets and ensure shelves are well-presented and tidy

• Follow hygiene and food safety procedures consistently

• Assist with general cleaning duties, including wiping surfaces, washing dishes, and sweeping floors

• Work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

• Communicate clearly with kitchen and front-of-house team members

• Follow instructions and complete tasks as directed by supervisors or management

What we're looking for

• A friendly, positive attitude and genuine enjoyment in helping customers

• Experience with coffee-making or willingness to learn barista skills

• Good hand-eye coordination for tasks like icing and food preparation

• Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation of food and displays

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks

• Excellent hygiene and cleanliness standards

• Reliable, punctual, and available to work any shift and weekends on rotation

• Team player with good communication skills

• A proactive mindset and willingness to take initiative

• Previous experience in a bakery, café, or food service environment is a plus (but not a must)
