About the opportunity
The University of Tasmania is looking to appoint 2 new Associate Lecturers or Lecturers in Police Studies.
The roles will soon become part of a brand new and exciting school with Paramedicine and Emergency Management.
The new school will be a large multi-campus school specialising in Emergency Care, Law Enforcement and Police Studies, and Emergency Management. Students study with us across campuses in Hobart, Launceston, the Tasmania Police Academy, and in Rozelle and Darlinghurst (New South Wales).
As our new Associate Lecturer or Lecturer, you will provide high quality teaching including consultation with students, marking and assessments, production and development of teaching materials, with a level of autonomy and appropriate guidance from the course or program coordinator.
You will also play a role in maintaining and building relationships across local and national networks, including academic disciplines, professional sectors, relevant industries, and the broader community, with opportunities to participate in professional activities aligned with the discipline.
Both roles will have access to our specialist research institute – the Tasmanian Institute of Law Enforcement Studies (TILES), but for those ready to take the next step (Academic Level B) you will have the opportunity to undertake high-quality research, secure external funding, publish research findings and more.
You will also support the next generation of specialists through the supervision of Higher Degree by Research students to ensure they meet relevant performance expectations and achieve their goals.
Teaching responsibilities are already mapped out, so you can hit the ground running. We’re especially keen to welcome specialists in Law, Psychology, or Cyber Crime/Security — areas that are central to our bold new direction.
There are 2 positions available with part time hours to be negotiated.
Hobart is our preferred location, but our Launceston and Burnie campuses will be considered.
Relocation assistance or visa sponsorship will be considered for the right person.
