About the role - 13 hours per week
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Part-Time (13hrs per week, Monday and Wednesday) Community Garden Coordinator to join our team at Goodwood Community Centre. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of our vibrant community garden.
This role invites you to use storytelling as a tool to inspire and educate the community about sustainable gardening—turning everyday garden moments into meaningful narratives that connect people to place.
What you'll be doing
Lead and support a team of volunteers in the daily care and upkeep of the community garden, overseeing tasks such as planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting.
Organise and lead gardening workshops and education sessions for community members of all ages and skill levels
Plan and develop strategies for future growth and programs.
Oversee a passionate team of volunteers and community partners to organise events, activities, and initiatives that promote the community garden
Basic admin duties along with grant and donation writing.
Opportunity to grow an online following by sharing engaging stories and creative content.
What we're looking for
Demonstrated experience in community gardening, horticulture, or a related field
Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate volunteers and community members
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage and educate diverse audiences
Passion for sustainable gardening practices and a desire to promote environmental stewardship within the community
Knowledge of local gardening techniques, plant species, and environmental considerations suitable for the Goodwood region
A warm, approachable personality that helps foster connection and inclusion
