About the role

Skytech Group Pty Ltd, a leading provider of Telecommunications construction and infrastructure services, is seeking an experienced Asbestos Removalist, Pit installer and General Civil Labourer to join our team on a contract basis in Melbourne. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful completion of our infrastructure projects and the safety of our worksites.

What you'll be doing

1. Safely remove and dispose of asbestos-containing materials from construction sites

2. Install pits and trenches for underground utility services

3. Perform general civil labouring tasks such as site preparation, excavation, and backfilling

4. Operate a variety of hand and power tools, as well as small plant and equipment

5. Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures

6. Collaborate with the wider construction team to ensure project deadlines are met

Key responsibilities:

1.      Scoping of Existing Telecommunication Networks

2.      Pipe proving, rod & roping

3.      Pit and Pipe installation

4.      Complete other general site related duties as required

5.      Adhere to safety protocols and industry best practices.

Additional Responsibilities if experienced:

6.      Cable hauling

7.      Concreting and Asphalt

8.      Trenching

9.      Excavator Operation

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as an asbestos removalist and pit installer, with a minimum of 2 years in the construction industry

2. Excellent understanding of asbestos handling and disposal protocols, as well as civil construction techniques

3. Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, as well as small plant and equipment

4. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to workplace health and safety

5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow instructions

6. Valid driver's licence and construction industry white card

7. Physically fit and strong to carry out work in a range of conditions

8. Positive work attitude and good communication skills

9. Ability to live and work away from home if required
