Position Overview
Design and detail custom service truck bodies for hire or purchase. Support engineering team in vehicle modifications for mining/construction sectors. As part of our Engineering Design Team, contribute to the ongoing development, improvement, and support of the service truck line. This hands-on, varied role offers the chance to see designs from concept to completion in a team committed to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 2D/3D CAD drawings (SolidWorks) for service modules, truck chassis and toolboxes.
- Ensure compliance with, ADR, NHVR and WA regulations.
- Collaborate with fabricators on prototypes and production.
- Revise designs based on client specs and site feedback.
- Manage drawing documentation and BOMs.
- Design, draft, and develop new service truck concepts and detailed engineering drawings.
- Apply FEA and engineering calculations to back up designs.
- Support sales team with cost estimates and proposals.
- Work alongside workshop team during service truck refurbishments, overhauls, and laser scanning projects.
- Investigate in-field product performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and internal processes.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients to deliver world-class solutions.
Desired Requirements
- Diploma/Bachelor in Mechanical Drafting or equivalent.
- Previous experience in vehicle body design.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in vehicle body design or heavy vehicle modifications
- Proficiency in Solidworks software; knowledge of steel fabrication.
- Strong attention to detail; ability to work in fast-paced environment.
