Electricity Market Reform
Darwin
One full time vacancy fixed for 2 years is available
Apply your extensive experience in leading complex policy/regulatory projects and legislative reform in policy, strategy and change management.
The Department of Mining and Energy (DME) drives energy reform to deliver affordable, reliable, and secure energy supplies that meet the needs of Territory families, businesses, and industry - now and into the future.
To support this initiative, the DME is implementing electricity market reforms to address long-standing infrastructure challenges, improve system reliability, maximise purchasing power, and facilitate a more stable and reliable energy system for Territorians.
As the Senior Director Reform Implementation, your role involves overseeing detailed legislative work to shape the Territory Electricity Market design and collaborating closely with the Executive Director to drive comprehensive reform efforts.
Your responsibilities will include leading critical work packages, engaging stakeholders for insights, and crafting high-level policy documents to guide government decisions. Your senior leadership skills will be pivotal in ensuring business continuity and fostering innovation across public and private sectors in the energy landscape.
To meet the challenges of this strategic role you require, extensive experience in leading complex policy/regulatory projects and legislative reforms, highly developed analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to conduct independent research and develop comprehensive, high-quality advice that supports decision-making on complex issues. Political acumen, cultural competence and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to build organisational capability and ensure responsive and effective change management. Tertiary qualifications in economics, business or public policy, along with substantial experience in regulatory, technical, governance or change management roles within electricity markets will be well received.
In return, you will be offered a competitive remuneration package inclusive of superannuation, generous leave entitlements and the opportunity to progress your career within the Northern Territory Government.
Note: All applicants will be assessed against the Executive Contract Level 1 and the Senior Administrative Officer Level 2 classifications, and the successful applicant will be offered employment at the classification the Selection Panel deems to be the more appropriate based on the applicant’s professional qualifications and experience.
