About the role

Hancock Iron Ore is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to join our Team. Reporting to the Supervisor Environment - Mine, you will be responsible for the safe completion of environmental field monitoring tasks including sampling groundwater bores, surface water locations, waste water treatment plants, weed monitoring, feral animal control and incident response. This position will also support the daily operations associated with progressive rehabilitation, including rehabilitation monitoring, weed monitoring and management, topsoil and rock armour tracking and inspections, seed stock management, overseeing drone seeding activities and assisting with contractor site works and data management.

Duties - Environment

  • Undertake field sampling in accordance with the compliance schedule and sampling WINs
  • Accurate labelling, recording and data entry for all samples obtained
  • Ensure samples are collected in a timely and correct manner
  • Preparation and delivery of samples to an accredited laboratory
  • Maintain stock of monitoring consumables
  • Assist with maintenance and calibration of the monitoring equipment
  • Assist with data management and interpretation of results
  • Ensure vehicles are safe, clean and stocked on a regular basis or as requested.
  • Participate in team handovers and meetings
  • Undertake all other duties / activities as required by the Environment Team or as instructed by the Superintendent Environment

Duties - Rehabilitation

  • Undertake rehabilitation photo monitoring at the Port/Rail/Mine as required.
  • Undertake weekly progressive rehabilitation inspections.
  • Undertake field surveys of landforms for the presence of weeds and complete minor maintenance works as required.
  • Assist with the preparation and input of data to the rehabilitation GIS database.
  • Conduct annual topsoil and rock armour inspections.
  • Conduct seed store inventory audits and weekly facility checks.
  • Assist with the preparation of seed batching and seeding rehabilitation landforms (including drone, mechanical and hand seeding).
  • Assist with the preparation of rehabilitation permits.
  • Undertake all other duties / activities as required by the Rehabilitation Team as instructed by the Superintendent Rehabilitation

Skills and Experience

  • Working knowledge of EnviroSys and sampling methodology
  • Proficient in water sampling (groundwater bores, tailings facilities, waste rock dumps and surface water)
  • Previous experience at a mine site with demonstrated experience in a field technician role or similar
  • Familiarity with weed control, GPS and GIS
  • Science degree desirable
  • Current Australian C Class Manual Driver's Licence, 4WD certification, and First Aid qualification

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a major mining client located in Central Queensland. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cost Control Engineer to support a large capital program on a 12+ month contract, working on a 9/5 FIFO or DIDO roster.

🔎 What You’ll Do
  • Prepare and maintain all reference baseline documentation in line with portfolio cost control standards, ensuring clear communication of requirements to project teams.
  • Validate project scopes and basis-of-estimate submissions to support reliable cashflow forecasts.
  • Monitor and audit cost management systems and reporting processes to ensure alignment with project control procedures.
  • Review and analyse the portfolio budget, comparing current forecasts against approved allocations.
  • Reconcile portfolio expenditure against budgets and highlight variances.
  • Identify and escalate portfolio-level cost risks to prevent overruns and support proactive mitigation.
  • Maintain the accuracy of cost control systems and advise the Superintendent of any material deviations.
  • Oversee foreign exchange exposure and currency allocations to ensure smooth cashflow management across projects.
  • Prepare and submit required documentation to support the sustaining capital budget approval cycle.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Commercial or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in a similar portfolio cost control or project controls position within the mining or construction sector.

  • High-level computer capability, including advanced Microsoft Excel and strong overall MS Office skills.

Your New Role

The Control Systems Specialist is responsible for providing lifecycle management and technical support for Territory Generation’s control systems, instrumentation and data assets across the Northern Territory.

This role is based at Channel Island Power Station in Darwin however it provides support to all power stations in the Northern Territory which may require travel to other sites. 

Your accountabilities include:

  • Ensure the reliability and availability of control system assets which supports power generation.

  • Perform investigations, troubleshooting, configuration, design, programming and documentation of various systems including DCS, PLCs, Historians, Turbine Control Systems, Instrumentation and SCADA systems.

  • Lead plant failure investigations and perform root cause analysis.

  • Conduct back-up and recovery of control system assets.

  • Manage the development, implementation and maintenance of controls that mitigate cyber security risks on the OT networks.

  • Undertake projects and provide technical advice to others stakeholders.

Your skills & experience:

  • Diploma of Engineering (or equivalent) recognised in Australia or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.

  • Demonstrated competence in workplace safety and commitment to safe work practices.

  • Develop and maintain asset management and shutdown plans in line with best practice.

  • Knowledge in the design, implementation, documentation, commissioning and maintenance of PLC and DCS based control systems and Instrumentation.

  • Knowledge of the basic operating principles of power stations and the main equipment used (e.g. Generators, Transformers, HV/LV switch gear, turbines etc.) used in power generation or heavy industry applications.

  • Ability to work effectively and diligently as an individual and team member to resolve complex faults on critical equipment.

  • Experience in the configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of Yokogawa DCS, CITECT SCADA, Turbine Control System (Mark VI, Woodward Micronet),Siemens S7 PLCs, Allen Bradley PLC and SCADA.

  • Experience in design and implementation of Enterprise Historian Perdue model and IOT applications and solutions (Asset Framework, Condition Based Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance) based on PI data.

  • Knowledge and experience with data communications protocols, industrial networking equipment and network engineering principles.

  • Knowledge of Functional Safety, Hazardous Area and Project Management standards and principles

Our client has an experienced team of health professionals, that include Aboriginal Health Workers and Practitioners, GP's and Nurses who work together to improve the health outcomes of Aboriginal people. They also have visiting Specialists and Allied Health Practitioners.  They are supported by the Administrative staff.
