What You'll Be Doing

As the Maintenance Fitter / Welder, you are critical to the smooth operation of our fixed & Mobile equipment

    • Fixed Plant Maintenance: Your primary focus will be the hands-on mechanical maintenance and repair of heavy fixed plant equipment, including conveyor belts, crushers, screens, hoppers, and bins
  • Mobile Plant Maintenance: Hands on preventative maintenance for mobile plant (excavators, sales loaders, etc)
  • Preventative & Breakdown Work: Executing scheduled maintenance tasks and responding to occasional urgent breakdowns.
  • Day Shift Stability: Working a consistent 5-2 roster, Monday to Friday (Day shift). Shifts may start early (as early as 4:00 AM) in line with the site's enterprise agreement.
  • Welding: Applying your welding skills for repairs and fabrication as needed (highly preferred skill).
What you would need.
  • A recognised Mechanical Trade Certificate (Fitter, Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, or Boilermaker).
  • Drivers licence - Open Manual preferred
  • White card.
  • Proven, hands-on experience maintaining and fixing heavy fixed plant (quarry, mining, or heavy industrial equipment experience is essential).
  • Welding experience is highly preferred.

What We're Looking For – Essential Requirements:

Trade Qualified – Minimum Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical or Fabrication)
Solid Industry Experience – At least 2 years of hands-on experience in fixed plant maintenance
Crusher & Screen Expertise – Proven experience working on:
 • Metso MP1000 Secondary Crushers
 • Gyratory Crushers
 • Vibrating Screens

Safety First – White Card, plus current Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets
Gas Testing Competency – Valid certification required
Strong Communicator – Clear and confident communication with a team-oriented mindset
Full Work Rights – Must have unrestricted rights to work in Australia


Highly Regarded – Not Essential, but Great to Have:

  • High Risk Licences – EWP, Forklift (LF), Dogging (DG), Intermediate Rigger (IR), CN, or Overhead Crane

  • SAP Experience – Ability to raise notifications and complete time confirmations within SAP

What You’ll Be Doing

As a key member of our shutdown team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing mechanical rigging activities on fixed plant maintenance and shutdown projects

  • Lifting, moving, and installing structural steel, piping, and mechanical components

  • Conducting equipment inspections, tagging, and safety checks

  • Assisting with dual crane lifts and equipment assembly where required

  • Interpreting technical drawings and lift plans

What You Bring

  • Minimum 2 years’ rigging experience in mining or heavy industry

  • High Risk Work Licence

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and shutdown experience

  • White Card and valid Australian Driver’s Licence

  • Ability to pass a mask fit test (clean-shaven policy applies)

Meandu Mine

BUMA Australia provides a total mine service to Stanwell Corporation's Meandu Mine to deliver coal to the adjacent Tarong power station. We are responsible for both managing and operating the mine.

Services provided include planning, drilling, overburden removal, coal mining, coal processing, rehabilitation, and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant. The project uses a combination of dragline and truck-and shovel operations. Meandu Mine currently has five working pits, with sufficient coal to fuel the stations until at least 2037.
